Roaring Camp Railroads

Less than an hour from most Silicon Valley locations in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Roaring Camp visitors can view giant Coastal redwoods from open-air cars on Roaring Camp’s Redwood Forest Train. Just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean, the forest flourishes in moderate temperatures and a year-round water supply provided by Pacific systems and dense fog.

In winter, California’s rain forest is most dramatic. Storms whip branches, foliage glistens, and the air is filled with the aroma of bay laurel and pine needles. As visitors ride through the forest, a guest narrator provides interesting facts about the rain forest and mini ecosystems that live within the canopy of redwood branches high above the ground.
