Whether you are looking for a free, casual concert to attend, an annual festival to check out, or some sort of event centered on wine tasting, the Silicon Valley cities have you covered. Choose from a variation of year-round events, some of which attract thousands of people, and others that are more low-key. With so many events going on all year, we narrowed the selection to just 3 events or less for each city that you don’t want to miss! Let’s take a look at some of these Silicon Valley events!
- Valentine Fun Run
Celebrate the Super Bowl and upcoming Valentine’s Day at the Valentine Fun Run! The 39th Annual 10K & 5K will take place Feb 6, 2016. Grab your friends and family and get a little exercise in before the big game. Pre-register and receive a celebratory custom designed race medal and t-shirt.
- Summer Concert Series
Join the Campbell community for a series of concerts for nine weeks starting in June; it’s the perfect summertime activity! Bring your own lawn chair or blanket, enjoy food and drinks from local vendors and sit back to enjoy a night of music. The concerts take place on the Orchard City Green in front of Ainsley House.
- Oktoberfest Fun Run/Walk
Participate in this German-themed run around Campbell in October. Whether you are running for your best time or just having a good time with friends, you will have fun on our 5K and 10K courses.
- Festival of Colors – Holi
Come out for a day full of yoga, music, dancing, food, colors and so much more! You don’t want to miss this new event in Cupertino on April 9 from 11:00am – 5:00pm at Memorial Park.
- Cherry Blossom Festival
This festival is in honor of Cupertino’s sister city of Toyokawa, Japan. Every year at Memorial Park, the community gets together to enjoy a variety of Japanese food and drinks, cultural exhibits, crafts, lots of entertainment, and an array of cultural experiences throughout the festival. The festival benefits the Cupertino Sister City Committee, which promotes the student exchange program between the two cities. Also, local non-profits will have booths set up to raise funds for their causes. Have fun and support some great causes! This year, the event will be held April 23 & 24 – don’t miss it!
- Silicon Valley Fall Festival
Celebrate Cupertino at this annual event at Memorial Park featuring a kid’s zone, tons of entertainment and music, fairs, competitions, and so much more!
- Santa Clara Valley Wineries Spring and Fall Passport Weekends
Sip your way along the Santa Clara Valley Wine Trail in both the Spring and Fall. Hopping from winery to winery, you can enjoy tastings, tours, live music and discounts from participating wineries. Spring dates: March 19 & 20, Fall dates: November 5 & 6.
- 2016 Concours at Kirgin Valley
Join Kirgin Cellars on June 26th for a fun-filled day featuring classic cars, wine tasting, multiple vendors, live music and barbecue.
- Gilroy Garlic Festival
This annual event is a favorite among the Gilroy community and will take place July 29-31. Enjoy three full days of arts and crafts, live entertainment, and of course delicious food and drinks. Garlic is the star of the show, as about 2 tons are consumed every year! Three stages provide a variety of entertainment, from chef demonstrations and the Great Garlic Cook-Off to music and more!
- Los Altos Art and Wine Festival
This two-day festival, July 11 & 12, is one of the largest in the Bay Area and you don’t want to miss it! Craftspeople and artists from around the US showcase their impressive work, while local wineries and restaurants are serving up some of their latest flavors and popular dishes. There will also be free concerts all day long for everyone to enjoy, along with a Kidzone featuring a variety of rides and activities. This is the perfect mid-summer event to attend in Silicon Valley!
- Los Altos Fall Festival
Join the community in celebrating fall with live entertainment, fine wine and microbreweries, a classic car show, delicious food, a kids area full of fun and games, arts and crafts booths and so much more! This event is one the whole family will love!
- Los Altos Festival of Lights Parade
Come out November 27, 2016 at 6:00pm for one of the most popular events in Los Altos! Marvel at lighted costumes and floats to ring in the Christmas season.
- Jazz on the Plazz
Who doesn’t love free concerts? Come out to the Town Plaza for a mid-week pick-me-up every Wednesday evening during June, July and August for free jazz concerts. These world-class concerts are produced by Los Gatos Music & Arts and are nothing short of remarkable.
- Shakespeare Festival
Theatre-goers look forward to every summer in Los Gatos when the town puts on this festival! Enjoy classical performances with fellow theatre fans at Oak Meadow Park.
- Fiesta de Artes
This 2-day festival draws tens of thousands of people together to enjoy art, wine, beer, live music and so much more. Kids will enjoy the jump house, snow cones and other scrumptious treats! Bring the family out for some fun!
- Summer Concert Series
A fun, free event at Murphy Park every Tuesday at 6:15 during the summer in Milpitas! This is a great way to enjoy the summer weather and spend time with friends and family while listening to great music.
- Pumpkins in the Park
This fall and Halloween-inspired event is a kid-favorite! Enjoy painting or carving pumpkins, making crafts, showing off costumes, petting animals, chowing down on delicious food and much more!
- Veteran’s Car Show
You don’t have to be a car-lover to enjoy this event! Of course, the vintage cars are the stars of the show, but with everything from food and music to a kid’s area and much more, the whole family will have a great time. Come on out to the Milpitas Civic Center for some fun!
- Chocolate and Wine for Valentine
Join the community for the perfect, romantic Valentine’s date night with your significant other. This event is taking place on February 13 at 2:00pm at Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center and benefits a great cause. Enjoy delicious chocolates, finger foods, fine wine and more!
- Fall Tarantula Festival and BBQ
Kick off the Fall season with this exciting event where you can learn about, and even touch, these furry little creatures. Don’t miss a chance to indulge in the yummy barbeque or even go on a little hike. The festival will be held October 1, 2016 from 10:00am through 4:00pm at Henry W. Coe State Park.
- Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras
This popular event is in its 37th year! Downtown Morgan Hill turns into a festival highlighting mushroom, the region’s main local crop, with live music and entertainment, arts and crafts, unique booths, food, mushroom education, tastings and so much more. This is the perfect way to spend your Memorial Day weekend with friends, family and the community!
- 20th Annual A la Carte & Art
Don’t miss this family-friendly Mountain View event featuring a car show, music, arts and crafts, food and more! Come down to Castro Street April 30 and May 1, 2016 from 10:00am – 6:00pm for some fun!
- 3rd Annual Silicon Valley Irish Fleadh
This festival celebrates everything Irish! This is a great opportunity to learn about and be immersed in the Irish culture. There will be Irish food, arts and crafts, dancers, a kids’ zone and much more! You don’t want to miss this!
- Art & Wine Festival
This is one of the largest Art and Wine festivals in the US! Art lovers, foodies, and wine-os flock to Mountain View to see incredible handcrafted work, enjoy live music, taste delightful food and drinks, play fun games and so much more. You have to come out and see what all of the buzz is about on Castro Street this September! Admission is free too!
- Twilight Concert Series
This event is a local favorite in Palo Alto. You can enjoy the summer weather and concerts every Saturday at 6:30pm. The concerts will feature everything from youth orchestras to celebrity performers and everything in-between. The best part is the concerts are free! Just bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the music! With three different locations, be sure to check the schedule before heading to the show!
- Moonlight Run & Walk
Whether you run or walk, this event is great for the whole family! A little exercise and a lot of fun under the full harvest moon.
- San Jose Jazz Fest
This is one of the largest music festivals in the Bay Area and you don’t want to miss it this year! There are 13 stages and over 100 performances throughout the 3-day event. Come out and enjoy a variety of musicians with other music and jazz fans.
- Cinequest Film Festival
Two weeks of March are filled with amazing works of art from talented filmmakers from over 50 countries. These filmmakers are competing in a variety of categories, such as short, feature and documentary, to receive the highest of honors at this festival. You can participate in parties, seminars, and more! Join thousand of fans for a unique experience.
- Super Bowl 50 Opening Night
Kick off the Super Bowl celebrations with this special event at SAP Center on February 1. Welcome the competing NFL teams, media, and thousands of visitors ready for the big game!
Not only is Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium, but also multiple fun, celebratory events leading up to Gameday are happening throughout Santa Clara all week long. Some of these events will include fireworks, concerts, a pep rally, delicious food, and so much more. Whether you are attending the game or not, you don’t want to miss out on the weeklong events.
- Celebrity Sweat Game
As part of the Super Bowl celebration week, this game is set apart from the other activities and will be so fun to watch! The teams for this ten vs. ten flag football game will consist of a variety of celebrities. To start the game will be a community flag football game, followed by the main event, including a halftime show and all the works.
- Art & Wine Festival
This Santa Clara tradition is one you can’t miss! Join 50,000 festival-goers September 17-18 at Central Park and enjoy amazing artwork, delicious food and wine.
- Concerts at Mountain Winery
Every summer brings a variety of incredible concerts to the Mountain Winery. Beautiful scenery sets the background for the outdoor stage where musicians put on spectacular shows for fans. You don’t want to miss the whole experience!
- Saratoga Rotary Art Show
The 59th annual Art Show will take place April 30 and May 1 on the picturesque grounds of West Valley College. Admission and parking are free! Enjoy art from over 200 artists, live music, food, wine, beer and more. All profits from the show go to local nonprofit organizations and charities, so come out to support the community and have a great time while doing it!
- Magic of Sunnyvale & Wine Stroll
Stroll through the streets and shops of downtown Sunnyvale while sipping on local wines and enjoying an array of magicians. The magic performers will amaze you as you enjoy the evening with friends and family. Mark your calendars for May 7 – you don’t want to miss it!
- Sunnyvale Art & Wine Festival
Enjoy artwork and craftsmanship from over 325 of the area’s best artists, along with wine, beer, specialty drinks, live music and rides for kids. Enjoy the summer air and a good time June 4-5, 2016.
- Jazz and Beyond
This is “The Ultimate Dining Experience” where Murphy Avenue transforms into one large street café where you can choose from over 20 restaurants for a delicious meal. You can also enjoy some amazing jazz acts while enjoying your dinner. Come out every Saturday from July 9 to August 27 from 5:30pm – 8:30pm for a unique dining experience.
With so many events going on in Silicon Valley, you will no doubt find something fun to explore year-round! We didn’t even cover some of the smaller events such as farmers markets, outdoor films, tree lightings in December and the list goes on.
